Water damage is a property owner’s worst nightmare. Whether it is your home or your office, you’ll want to take care of it before the problem worsens. The key is early intervention and that can only happen when you are able to tell you have a problem. Here are some signs you don’t want to ignore.
Signs of water damage:
Discolouration: Have you noticed any discoloration of the walls, flooring or ceiling in your basement (or bathroom and other parts of your house)? This is one of the first signs of water damage. Check for leaks and what is causing them.
Mildew smell: Does your home or basement smell and feel damp? This could be a tell-tale sign of leaks or water accumulation. Inspect pipes and water sources as well as your basement to determine the cause.
Mould: Greenish or black spots are an indication of mould growth which thrives in damp and wet surroundings. Leaks, dampness or flooding are most likely to be the reason for your mould infestation.
Basement leaks: Your basement is most vulnerable to water and mould. Leaky pipes, water seepage through the walls or the ground are signs of future water damage. Get these issues fixed before they lead to structural problems or mould-related health problems.
